About Biggs Picture Jasper

Biggs Picture Jasper exhibits intricate shell or layer-like patterns in shades of brown ranging from beige to dark brown—patterns from volcanic ash deposited on basalt terrain and heated and compressed through volcanic activity. First found in the 1960’s at a creekbottom near Biggs Junction, Oregon, Biggs jasper is considered “extinct” as the deposit is no longer being mined.

About Tiger Iron

Tiger iron (or tiger eye matrix) is a quartz-lignite aggregate gemstone containing layers of vibrant golden tiger eye, metallic grey hematite, and rich, red jasper. Tiger’s eye contains chalcedony, microcrystalline quartz, and crocidolite, which create the gem’s signature “cat’s eye” chalcedony effect.  Tiger Iron comes from the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
